Urine M-spike is a laboratory diagnostic test done in patients with suspected multiple myeloma. It uses a protein electrophoresis method. This protein is normally not detected in patients without multiple myeloma. Presence of any amount in the urine is used as both a marker for initial diagnosis and disease relapse.
